City of Lucca. What you need to know the tourist before the trip?

The article describes useful information for tourists traveling to Lucca. How to get to the city? What transport can I use to explore it? What are the hotels, restaurants and attractions?
The city of towers, red-tiled roofs and immortal romance. Of course, all this is Lucca – one of the most striking Italian corners. What you need to know the tourist going there?
How to get there?
From Russia to get to Lucca is impossible, you have to first get to Florence, Pisa. Once in one of these cities in Tuscany, really travel back to Lucca by:
order a special tour;
rented car;
public transport.
Buying an excursion will save the tourist from any worries: the guide independently organizes the transfer, will show the sights. The second option is suitable for drivers, but will have to calculate the route. Buses and trains move to Lucca regularly, which is why many people prefer this budget way.
Lucca is a tiny and cramped settlement, therefore there is nothing for the extra cars to do: tourists with rented vehicles will have to explore the city on foot, leaving the car in a free parking lot near the city gates.
True, taxis, taxis in Lucca ply – if necessary, really ride them. Fans of cycling Lucca also enjoy, because renting a bike here is extremely easy.
Modest rooms, budget prices and home comfort are the distinguishing criteria of city hotels. It is difficult to stumble upon a high-class hotel here, 4 stars is the maximum limit of Lucca, but almost everywhere it is comfortable, simple, with a medieval taste.
The city is famous for the noblest institutions that feed more than one generation of Italians. For example, Caffe di Simo, where Puccini sometimes played, has remained completely unchanged since that time. The Buca di Sant’Antonio restaurant, which has been operating since the 18th century, still offers Italian cuisine to its customers. Of course, prices can hardly be called democratic, but the quality of food is excellent.
Meet the ancient architectural creations really already at the entrance – the fortress walls envelop Lucca with medieval romance. Walking on the tops of the walls are allowed. The length of the sights is almost 4 kilometers, a wide walking area of the walls is decorated with plane trees.
The city of Lucca is also famous for its churches and towers. Among the latter, only Guinigi Tower has survived, which today is considered a city symbol and at the same time a viewing platform.

Let the towers badly survived, shrines, other ancient buildings fairly preserved. Almost every local building is a most valuable architectural creation, therefore it is almost impossible to list all the man-made sights of Lucca.
The most interesting buildings:
• St. Martin’s Cathedral – inside you can see the image of the labyrinth of the Minotaur, several unique statues, historical artifacts.
• Basilica of St. Fridian – a shrine made in the Romanesque style. The facade is decorated with mosaics of the Ascension of Christ, the interior – carving on marble, rare paintings and frescoes.
• Bernardini Palace – Renaissance building with a dearly decorated courtyard. In the wall of the palace there is a lack of a stone, which, according to legend, is considered devilish.
• Villa Guinigi – repository of ancient, ancient Roman, medieval exhibits.
